The Boonsung wreck is an old tin mining shipt owned by the Boonsung Tin Mining Company and sank in 1984. At that time there was a tin mining boom along the Andaman coast with old Takuapa as center for the tin mining. After the tin mining boat , the Navy bombed because it’s was to close to the surface. During the 2004 Tsunami it was further broken up.
Over the years the hull has become and artificial reef full with soft corals, hard corals and shells which attracts schools of fish who make the Boonsung wreck their home. Boonsung wreck has an outstanding abundance of fish life, including moray eels, lionfish, seahorses, batfish, porcupine fish, nudibranchs and large schools of barracudas.
